Last time I veiled, it was at a parish where I felt judged and stood out in a bad way. The great thing is that many of my students at the school have begun inquiring about veiling. While I don't expect them to all rush out and do it, I love that they are open, non-judgmental, and inquisitive. One boy wanted to know why he couldn't/shouldn't cover his head out of respect which led to excellent conversations too. I would love to know who posted a link to my little site so I can thank them!! God bless!! Overall i found this a beautiful post, i wa...hmmm. Overall i found this a beautiful post, i want to tell you that right off, and even found some surprising similarities, i too, have a variety of veils, most of them homemade, and scarves too. Someone told me once that there arent really any hard and fast "rules" that it usually depended on customs in your area, and since i was the first person in my parish to wear a veil, hey they guessed i could make my own rules lol. So I too like to match my dress or the liturgical season, usually if the Season is special i use that, and for Ordinary times i go for matching the outfit unless i decide to wear my green veil :) This also helps keep it fun for my daughter, who chose to veil with me :). One suggestion/concern. When you mentioned the part about "God was going to help me and life was great" i assumed that this was some time ago and you were going to go on to explain how you came down off the "high" of new devotion and realized (fill in the blank) then i read the rest and figured out that this was still very new to you, so i guess my only note of caution is not to get discouraged when or if some of that feeling dies off or wears down. The veil is, as youve noted, more about your relationship to God, and your humility than it is about what God can and will do for you ;). Oh, and if you go to the same Church its likely that the conversations about your veil will die down rather quickly too, as they get used to you heh, i consider this a good thing. Overall, again, this was a beautiful post and was linked from another beautiful pro veiling post which is how i found you so you might be getting a bit more traffic lol. God bless you!! OH, another pro or two that i found, in my case there had been another lady in my parish who had been wanting to veil for a long time, through me she found the courage to go for it, and then her veiling reinforced mine, several other ladies have started veiling at my parish too, though not all who did, continued, some have :)Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12979806863273473411noreply@blogger.com
